2007/2008 ADMISSIONS INTO FIRST DEGREE AND SUB-DEGREE PROGRAMMES IN THE COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, FACULTIES OF ARTS, BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCES EDUCATION, LAW, MANAGEMENT SCIENCES, SCIENCE, THE SOCIAL SCIENCES AND INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following programmes:
1. COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES Study Centre: Yewa Campus, Aiyetoro
A. B. Sc. PROGRAMMES (Weekend only) i B.Sc. (Home and Hotel Management) ii. B.Sc. (Cooperative and Business Management)
5 – Year Programmes General Admission Requirementsi. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. Five (5) Credit passes at WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE/NABTEB/NECO at not more than two sittings in the following subjects which must include English Language and Mathematics, Agricultural Science, Home Economics, Economics, Physics, Geography, Accounting, Chemistry, Food & Nutrition and Biology. Merit passes in Teacher’s Grade II Certificate at not more than 2 sittings including English Language, Mathematics or Arithmetic process. However, Chemistry and Physics are not compulsory for candidates applying for B.Sc. (Cooperative and Business Management).
4-Year Programmes In addition to the general and the 5-year programmes’ admission requirements, candidates must possess any of the following: i Passes in two relevant subjects at HSC/GCE A’ Level. ii Merit passes at NCE Home Economics (double major) or with two (2) teaching subjects including Home Economics and Chemistry / Food and Nutrition / Mathematics / Physics / Integrated Science. Merit Pass in General English /Communication skills or use of English at NCE, OND or HND, are acceptable in lieu of WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE credit in English Language while a merit pass in Teachers’ grade II Mathematics is also acceptable in lieu of WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE Mathematics. iii. OND (Credit in Home Science/Economics/Mathematics. Human Nutrition, Dietetics, Catering and Hotel Management, Food Technology, Textile Technology, Public Health/Health Technology or Nursing Certificates.
3-Year Programme In addition to the general and 5 year programme admission requirements, candidates must have HND (Credit) in any of the following: Home Science/Economics/Management/Human Nutrition, dietetics/Catering and Hotel Management. Food Technology, Textile Technology, Public Health/Health Technology or Nursing Certificates.
Mature Candidates Candidates not less than 35 years old with at least 5 years cognate work experience plus NCE, OND or HND in relevant disciplines and O/L credit in English Language and Mathematics may be considered after a satisfactory performance at the qualifying examination. * The College also accepts NABTEB Certificates
2. FACULTY OF ARTSA DEGREE PROGRAMMES Study Centre: Abusi Odumare Annex, Ijebu-Igbo (Weekend) (i) B. A. English (ii) B. A. French (iii) B. A. History & Diplomatic Studies (iv) B. A. Philosophy (v) B. A. Mass Communication (Weekday and Weekend)
Admission Requirements into 5-Year Programmes i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. 5 Credit passes in Arts related subjects at WASCE/GCE/SSCE or equivalent qualifications including English Language at not more than 2 sittings. A Credit pass in Literature in English is required for English Language. For Mass Communication, 5 Credit passes must include English Language and any other Arts and Social Sciences’ related Subjects. A pass in Mathematics is also required for candidates seeking admission into Philosophy and Mass Communication Programmes.
Admission Requirements into 4-Year Programmes In addition to 5-year Programmes admission requirements, candidates must have: (i) HSC/GCE A/L in at least two relevant subjects. OR (ii) Lower Credit in OND/HND or NCE in relevant subjects. OR (iii) A Diploma in Public Relations/Mass Communication (Minimum of Lower Credit) of Olabisi Onabanjo University or other Institutions recognized by Senate of the University (iv) Professional Certificates from any of the following bodies: a. Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) b. Business Education Examination Council (BEEC) c. Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON)
B DIPLOMA PROGRAMME Study Centre: Abusi Odumare Annex, Ijebu-Igbo i. Diploma in Mass Communication (Weekday/Weekend)
Admission Requirements into Diploma Programme (i) Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. (ii) 4 Credit passes at WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE at not more than 2 sittings including English Language or (iii) 4 Merit passes at Teachers’ Grade II at not more that two sittings including English Language
3. FACULTY OF BASIC MEDICAL SCIENCE: DURATION 5 YEARS Study Centre: Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ikenne Campus 5 year Programme B.Sc. Medical Sciences with options in any one of the following i. Biochemistry ii. Physiology iii. Medical Microbiology and Parasitology iv. Chemical Pathology and Immunology vii Pharmacology
Admission Requirements Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. 5 Credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.
4. FACULTY OF EDUCATIONStudy Centre: Abusi Odumare Annex (Weekend only)a. Bachelor of Secretarial Administration (BSA) b. Bachelor of Business Education (BBE)
Admission Requirements A1. 5-Year Degree Programmei. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. 5 Credit/Merit passes at WASCE/GCE/O’L/SSCE/NABTEB/Grade II Certificate in not more than 2 sittings including English Language for all courses, and Mathematics or Statistics for Science, the Social Sciences and Management Sciences. ACE with at least Merit passes may be considered for admission.
A2 5-Year Degree Programme for Mature Candidates Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. 3 Credit/Merit Passes at WASCE, SSCE, Grade II, ACE, NABTEB, and any other related professional certificates such as: NCE, OND, and any other professional certificates from any recognized institution. In addition, candidates who are 35 years of age and above with a minimum of 5 years work experience will have added advantage.
B. 4-Year Degree Programme i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. 5 Credits/Merit passes at WASCE/GCE/O’L/SSCE/NABTEB/Grade II Certificate in not more than 2 sittings including English Language for all courses, and Mathematics or Statistics for Science, the Social Sciences and Management Sciences programmes. iii In addition, 2 passes at HSC or GCE. A/Level or Merit Passes at NCE, Diploma (minimum of Lower Credit), OND in relevant courses, or Diploma in Computer Science or equivalent professional qualifications. A merit pass in General English Language/Communication Skill at NCE may be accepted in lieu of O’Level English Language. Also, merit passes at NCE/OND or Professional Examinations in Mathematics and Statistics or quantitative techniques in the categories of certificates stated above are accepted in lieu of O’Level Mathematics.
5. FACULTY OF LAW Study Centre (Mini Campus Ago – Iwoye) A TWO-YEAR DIPLOMA IN LAW PROGRAMME (EVENING PROGRAMME) (i) Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. (ii) 5 Credit passes at WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE at not more than 2 sittings including English Language, and any other four (4) subjects (iii) Mature candidates of not less than 30 years of age with 4 credits including English Language with at least five years work experience at the managerial or similar level may be considered.
6. FACULTY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES A. DEGREE PROGRAMME Study Centre - Main Campus and Secio Annex (Ijebu-Ode) -Weekend 5-Year Degree Programme a. B.Sc. Economics b. B.Sc. Purchasing and Supply Management
General Admission RequirementsSatisfactory performance at qualifying examination. 5 Credit passes at WASCE/GCE O/L or SSCE or Merit passes in Teacher’s Grade II at not more than 2 sittings including English Language and Mathematics.
4-Year Degree Programmes Study Centre – Seico Annex, Ijebu-Ode and Main Campus Centres (Weekend) a B.Sc. Economics Four-Year Degree Programme in EconomicsIn addition to the general entry requirements, applicants are expected to have any of the following: i. minimum of 2 passes in related (Advanced Level) subjects which must include Economics ii. A minimum of a lower credit pass in related National Diploma courses.
b. B.Sc. Purchasing and Supply Management In addition to the general entry requirements, applicants are expected to have any of the following: i. A minimum of Lower Credit pass in National Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management ii. Pass in Foundation Examinations of the Nigerian Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management or its equivalent in related professional disciplines. iii. Mature candidates of not less than 35 years old and with a minimum of ten (10) years cognate work experience may be considered. Statistics/ Quantitative techniques will be accepted in lieu of pass in Mathematics.
3 Year Degree Programme in Purchasing and Supply Management (i) In addition to the general requirements, applicants must possess HND in Purchasing and Supply Management or B.Sc. Degree in related discipline with work experience in Purchasing and Supply in related organization(s) (ii) Mature candidates of not less than 35 years of age with a minimum of 10 years work experience having obtained 5 credit passes at O’ Level with either a pass in English Language or Mathematics in addition to HND and or C.I.P.S.M certificate may also be considered for interview.
2. DIPLOMA PROGRAMME Study Centre: Seico Annex (Ijebu Ode) (A) DIPLOMA PROGRAMME IN PROCUREMENT MANAGEMENT AND DIPLOMA IN ECONOMICS (2-YEAR DURATION) Weekday & Weekend)s
Admission Requirements i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. Four (4) credit passes in related subjects in WASC/GCE/SSCE/Grade II Certificate at not more than two (2) sittings including a credit pass in English or Mathematics.
DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT SCIENCES (DMS) Diploma in Management Science with option in (i) Economics
Admissions Requirements Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. Five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects including English and Mathematics in not more than two sittings. Applicants with either P7 in Mathematics or English may be considered for admissions 7. FACULTY OF SCIENCEStudy Centre – (Mini Campus, OOU)A DEGREE PROGRAMMES (Weekend Only) (i) B.Sc. Physics with Electronics (ii) B.Sc. Microbiology (iii) B.Sc. Computer Science (iv) B.Sc. Pure or Industrial Chemistry (vi) B.Sc. Biochemistry
General Admission Requirements5-Year Programmes (i) Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. (ii) 5 Credit passes at WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE at not more than 2 sittings in English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects from Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, Geography or Economics, Statistics and Technical Drawing. (iii) Mature candidates with 5 – 10 years cognate work experience may have added advantage.
4-Year Programmes In addition to 5-year programmes’ requirements, candidates must possess: (i) 2 relevant subjects at HSC/GCE (A’L) or (ii) OND or HND/NCE (Credit/Merit) in relevant disciplines or (iii) Diploma in Data Processing of Olabisi Onabanjo University with a minimum of Lower Credit or other equivalent Diploma in Data Processing or Computer Engineering or Computer Studies from a recognized University/Higher Institution.
WAIVER: A pass in English at higher level may be considered as surrogate to O’L English Language
B. DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES (Weekday only) 1. Data Processing – (One Academic Session)
Admission Requirements i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. At least 4 credit passes in WASCE/GCE (O’L)/SSCE at not more than two sittings including Mathematics and a pass in English Language.
2. SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES (AGO-IWOYE STUDY ANNEXE ONLY – Weekday) Diploma Programme (2 Academic Sessions) –
Admission Requirements i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. 4 credit passes at WASCE/GCE (O’L) at not more than 2 sittings including two Science subjects with at least a pass in English Language and Mathematics
Mature Candidate Satisfactory performance at the qualifying examination Candidates with credit passes at WASCE/GCE O’L/SSCE/NECO who are not less than 30 years of age with at least 5-10 years cognate work experience may have an added advantage
8. FACULTY OF THE SOCIAL SCIENCESStudy Centre: Main Campus (only) (A) DEGREE PROGRAMMES 5-Year Degree Programme – (Weekend Only ) a. B.Sc. Transport Planning and Management b. B.Sc. Industrial and Labour Relations c. B.Sc. Public Administration
General Requirements i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. 5 Credit passes at WASCE/GCE/O’L or SSCE or Merit passes in Teachers’ Grade II at not more than 2 sittings including English Language and Mathematics iii. The Faculty also accepts holders of NABTEB and City and Guild Certificates for its Transport Planning and Management programmes.
4-Year B.Sc. Transport Planning and Management In addition to the general requirements, applicants are expected to possess any of the following: i. 2 passes at GCE A/L in related combinations ii. At least a Merit at NCE in any two relevant teaching subjects iii. Diploma (at least Lower Credit) of Olabisi Onabanjo University iv. National Diploma in relevant disciplines such as Engineering, Estate Management, Surveying, Transport, Computer Science, Environmental Management, Public Administration and other relevant disciplines as may be approved by Olabisi Onabanjo University Senate. v. Mature candidates of not less than 35 years of age with 5 O’Level Credits and 5 years cognate work experience or professional qualifications must have a pass in English Language or Mathematics.
4-Year B.Sc. Industrial and Labour Relations – Study Centre: Main Campus In addition to the general requirements, applicants must have at least a Lower Credit pass in Diploma in Industrial and Labour Relations, Business Administration (General/Marketing/Office/ Personnel Management) or NCE/National Diploma (a minimum of Lower Credit) in relevant discipline.
B.Sc. Public Administration Admission Requirements: i Five-Year Programmes Satisfactory performance at the qualifying examination. Applicants are expected to have obtained at least five O’Level, credit passes at WASC/GCE or NECO credit passes in not more than two sittings including English Language, Mathematics and any other three subjects.
ii Four-Year Programmes In addition to the general requirements in (i) above, candidates must have passed Government or History and any other subjects at the GCE A/Level or HSC examinations or at least merit passes at NCE in related subjects including Government/Political Science or OND, or equivalent Diploma in Public Administration and Local Government, Law, Public Relations or General Management or other related disciplines from a recognized Institution with a grade not lower than of Lower Credit.
(2) DIPLOMA PROGRAMMES: Public Administration – Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye (Weekend) Diploma in Public Administration i. Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. ii. Applicants are expected to have obtained a minimum of four credit passes in WASC/GCE or NECO at not more than two sittings which must include either English Language or Mathematics. A minimum of P8 in English Language or Mathematics is however required. iii. Mature candidates (25 years of age and above) who do not possess the basic qualifications stated above but have a minimum of five (5) years work experience may be considered for admission. 9 INSTITUTE OF EDUCATIONStudy Centre: Main Campus, Ago-Iwoye DIPLOMA PROGRAMME – 2 YEARS a. Diploma in Industrial and Labour Relations b. Diploma in Library Studies
Admission Requirements Satisfactory performance at qualifying examination. For all programmes, four (4) Credit passes at WASC, SSCE, GCE, NECO or Grade II Certificate, plus at least a pass in English Language, at not more than two sittings would be required.
Mature applicants may be admitted into the Diploma in Library and Information Science. Such applicants who must be working in Libraries or relevant organizations must have a minimum of five years cognate experience. They should also be sponsored by their employers and be able to prove that they can benefit from the course.
MODE OF OBTAINING APPLICATION FORMS
A. APPLICATION FORMS ARE OBTAINABLE ON-LINE AS FOLLOWS: i. Log on to the OOUCESAP Website: www.ooucesap.com ii. Click on the “Apply now”, read the instructions and type in your full name and address and select either Degree or Diploma option and click submit iii. Print out the form generated and get it completed. iv. Obtain a bank draft for Ten Thousand Five Hundred naira (N10, 500.00) from any of the accredited banks listed below and proceed to the Accounting and Purchasing Unit of the Centre to obtain your receipt. v. Submit completed form to OOU CESAP Admissions’ Office (Room 205) with a Photocopy of bank draft and the receipt with which the form was purchased. vi. Upon submission of the form at Room 205, obtain a scratch card with pin no. from the Admissions’ Officer after which you will go back to the net to provide the required information. vi Following (v) above, you will be able to get the date for the examination and you will be assigned an examination hall/venue vii You are expected to use the same scratch card to check your result on the net.
